Welcome to the Alter Ergo Blog

Exciting News – We Have a Blog About Ergonomics!

Hello and welcome to the launch of the Alter Ergo blog! My name is Crystal Nelson. I am an ergonomist who is excited about sharing all the fun and useful ergonomic tips and tricks I have learned throughout my career.

Though ergonomics as a discipline is nearly 80 years old, research in the field continues. Ergonomics is a continually evolving industry, and as new information becomes available, we learn even more about how to reduce injury and increase efficiency in the workplace. And I want to share that information with you!

Why a Blog About Ergonomics?

Being an ergonomist combines two things that have always brought me joy, educating and caring for others. As a child, I loved playing teacher and doctor, and as I grew into adulthood, that love of educating and caring for others stayed a part of me. These passions were realized when I began my career in the rehab industry and started my work as an occupational therapist.

I began my occupational therapy career in an outpatient clinic. Oftentimes, people presented to me with upper extremity injuries. I taught them how to take care of their injury and themselves while rehabilitating a fractured bone, a strained muscle, or an inflamed tendon. While I enjoyed the work I did, many times it left me wishing I could have reached my patients before their injuries occurred. I knew there had to be a way of preventing these injuries from happening in the first place.

That’s where my passion for education comes in because to prevent a work-related injury from occurring, people must be armed with knowledge. Enter ergonomics. Ergonomic education is the key to preventing work-related injuries. That is why I created this blog, to help you take better care of yourself. I want to encourage you to take care of your body, because as the late entrepreneur and motivational speaker, Jim Rohn, used to say, “It’s the only place you have to live.”

What You Can Expect in a Blog About Ergonomics
